No one has come back from the dead! Ever!!

Religious beliefs aside from being nothing more than wishful thinking and delusional; are also guilty of perpetuating a false outlook on life in general. Christianity for example emphasizes the so called spiritual life over that of the physical life, it teaches that this life is temporary which it is, and that it is that afterlife which is eternal and that each one should strive to achieve.

It teaches its adherents to abhor this life in exchange for a life that cannot possibly be proven to exist since no one has ever been known to return from the dead outside of mythology. You can argue that Christ returned from the dead but in doing so you face several dilemmas. Namely, having to prove that Christ existed as an historical figure, that the gospel narrative are reliable sources of information regarding his life and if possible provide secular evidence that corroborates those narratives.

There is also the issue of proving that he died by way of crucifixion, was entombed in a cave for three days, and finally that he rose from the dead. The gospels state that he was seen by his apostles and immediate followers, but according to Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:6 he was also seen by over 500 witnesses after his resurrection.

I don’t know about you but I find it hard to believe that if so many people saw Christ after he was allegedly dead that no one thought that this event was significant enough to write about. I do know that there was a huge amount of illiteracy in those days, but biblical accounts state that Jesus had contact with the scribes and the Pharisees often and they were certainly not illiterate. Yet there is nothing written by any of them that have survived or been discovered to this day.

According to Paul; Christianity hinges on the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15: 14-17). The bible is full of tales and myths of men being brought back to life after having been dead as in the case of Lazarus and several others both in the old and new testaments. None of these so called resurrected figures uttered on single solitary word about what happened to them on the “other side”.

Evidence of this so called afterlife is scant and the so called evidence that does exist is dubious at best and very suspect. Don’t get me wrong I personally had some experiences as a child that I thought at the time were actual sightings of full bodied apparitions and such, but as an adult I question myself and wonder if these experiences were not the result of a young child’s active imagination. Let’s not forget that there are also several mental illnesses that make it difficult for a person to tell the difference between reality and fantasy.

I therefore conclude that no one has ever returned from the dead, especially after three days or more of being in the grave. I know the bible states that Jesus did not decay while he was in the grave, but that would be a miracle and we know miracles of a divine nature don’t exist. With rigor mortis and cellular death after a few hours of physical death this just makes Jesus resurrection an impossibility.

Check out the right side of this woman's face. What is that?

Anyway how odd these things happen in primitive places and never in educated countries with cameras, and medical doctors that could truly say someone is dead.

  3. Any refutation that you make of "miracles" from days gone by will invariably be countered with the concept that god can do anything. After many years I've reluctantly concluded that there is no chance of breaking the religious stranglehold on people's minds.

  4. ex-minister I saw the first video was not impressed. The guy looked like he had a heart attack or stroke and was suffering some sort of paralysis. His eye lids did move at times and by his own admission he says he was aware of all the commotion around him. He believed he was dead when he saw that video. The second lady I did not watch but it looked like she had some sort of growth on her faith. It could be a tumor or something.@prayforrain I completely agree with your conclusion. As I like to say faith is the ultimate equalizer and through it even the impossible is believable.

  5. "but according to Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:6 he was also seen by over 500 witnesses after his resurrection."

I'm wondering how is it possible for someone to have never seen jesus himself, but yet be considered an authority about jesus?

I'm also wondering how could jesus have raised the dead, "as in the case of Lazarus and several others both in the old and new testaments."

And their bodies (and clothes) not have already whithered away with rot and disfigurement?

Also it would have been to the bible god's advantage to have let jesus live and witness to the world at least another thousand or 2 thousand years, because Methuseluh supposedly lived to around 970 years and why did he get to be the longest lived on earth?

Just imagine if Jesus were living today and everyone could witness the miracles themselves and then not believe? Then an atheist would be in fact a fool not to believe.

The problem is that, the bible god is just not very smart, nor very insightful to the things in the future, I think god of the bible may be suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

  6. Silly Steven - then faith wouldn't be required.

Prayforrain - I think it is less about those who are arguing than the audience that may be listening. I have never seen one of the true sheeple realize the error behind their thinking. But there may be more reasonable people on the fence asking some of the same question as we may have.

  7. One of the most fascinating things that I discovered upon becoming an atheist 16 years ago was how similar to my thoughts were those of some of the greatest orators and thinkers of the 16th and 17 hundreds. Also, of how I had been duped into believing and not being able to recognized the flaws in my beleifs and thinking at the time.

  9. i realized very early life that the whole religous system was as corrupt and misleading as any other organization who thrives on fear and faith when one monday morning the monsignor came in to our 4th grade class...he looked at us very carefully then exclaimed,"you! i didn't see you at mass yesterday, you realize that your putting in jeapordy your scolastic grade...i will assign demerits to all who do not attend mass on sunday and these demerits will influence your final grades!" i thought, man this dude is crazy so i gained courage, raised my hand and asked him what does going to church have to do with our intelligence? he looked at me with fiery eyes and just stared...after a minute or so he turned on his heels and went away....that was the shittiest 4th-grade class anyone could ever have...it was like a conspiracy against me because i attended a catholic school with nuns and priests...i wanted to share this with others and i will be writing more in the future...we gotta stop this manipulation in some way...

  10. the centralization of human feelings including our "faith" should be banned from intelligent societies...it'a all about money my dear brothers...how can you fill a stadium if the preacher doesn't have money? where does he get the money?(because sadly stadiums ARE filled to the brim) he gets the money by manipulating on what you believe...his strength is in numbers, the more you are,the more HE is! wake up mankind!! religion is a personal thing, your own private universe, there isn't anybody out there that should tell you or even worse, force you to believe in something...remember salem and the spanish inquisition...religious murderers!!

  11. chat,my brother,i am troubled and weary...i have a beautiful 4-year-old baby daughter that has asked me if god exists...she is going through the routine we all go through when we're little and everytime she asks me religious questions i have to decieve her with usual answers, like god is watching you,the virgin mary will cry if you do this or that, the devil will take you away and so forth...how can i innocently explain to her that it's just a bunch of nonsense,a bunch of greed-driven nonsense...i don't want to ruin her infancy with the truth about life because she's so little, but i would like to make her realize that it's not all roses everything she hears or sees...what do you say about child education in this confused world??

  12. elan, thanks for your comments. I have two daughters myself but one is 13 and the other is 16 years old. They both know my stance on religious matters and are presently labeling themselves as atheists. I think that you should be honest with your child. Don't start plaguing her young mind with religious trash, all you are doing is indoctrinating her. Just be honest about your position and let her make her own choices later in life. Once you begin that early indoctrination it is hard to shake off. Believe me I know, it took me 6 years to get over the fear of turning my back on God and rejecting all religious beliefs outright.

  16. @Anonymous, it seems like you are a bit racist towards the white or more appropriately the Caucasian race. I don't condone prejudice and I don't side with Afro-Americans who cling to what happened to their ancestors as an excuse for racism. The old "white man" oppresses me argument is not valid and sickens me.

On God, obviously if you've been reading my blog you know where I stand. There is no God and until someone can prove to me that there is one objectively he will continue to be nothing more than a myth.
