If Christianity did not have such an influence in my life and society I don't think I would even bother with it. It's true that some believers have gone above and beyond by putting those beliefs into practice in their lives and touching the lives of others. But as in all things there are good apples and bad apples in every bunch.

During the crusades it was known that the Muslims treated christians who lived amongst them fairly with some restrictions, the same cannot be said for Christians. You cannot deny that Christianity was established through the use of tyranny and terror. My ideas about God are more on a secular and intellectual level.

God is no longer in my heart nor do I feel a need for him. I just don't like it when religion tries to dictate to society as a whole what is right and what is wrong basing themselves on their beliefs. Every man has the option to choose his own path and as long as that path is not harming others or the societies you live in then it's fine with me. Oh by the way I am reading the book you recommended me and I am on page 25 and am having serious problems with it. As soon as I am done I will post my review of that book.Chatpilothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03550924322118366351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6211409678921393693.post-75035503449242712832010-08-13T14:16:13.378-04:002010-08-13T14:16:13.378-04:00Chatpiliot,
Thank you for that honest answer. I...Chatpiliot,

Thank you for that honest answer. It helps Me understand you better. I had said from the outset there was an underlying emotional/ personal experience that was negative. At the outset though my advice would be to deal with the bitterness and resenment but your emotions can affect your reason just like mine can. You really have to ask the question how much of reason. Is I I fluenced by your emoition. I'm content with the idea, that you are an athiest because that is what logic has lead you to belive. I'm not okay when people have had a bad personal experience and then have that influence how they processes information.
I can't argue with the fact that the.church has done some pretty evil things in the name of God. But it wasn't always like that. For example, in ancient Romans would throw unwanted babies in street or under a beige to die. It was the Christians that would pick them up and love them. It was because of Christianity fought for the abolostion of the slave trade in britian. It was because of Christianity that mother tersa does what she does. It's why people like Billy Graham are respected by all leaders and government faiths it's why Martin Luther king jr , caught against racism, it why in Vancouver they work to free women the slave trade. It's why I work as a pastor and give food to the homless . Christianity is the reason why I stand for human rights. I stand for womens rights and mens rights. And children rights. It's because of Christianity that I believe a white mans rights should never surpress a black mans rights and it's because of Christianity that I beleive a woman has the right to what she wants with her body it should not interfer with someone elses. Dude this is a free country. I can't speak for everyone who goes to church but people choose to submit themselves to Christianity out of thier own free will. That's not tyrany . As a pastor I give advicse for how people are to live all the time, but I force them to do it, or get angry when they don't
I think you struggle with resentment because a reasonable answer would say that as we failed we have strived to conttribute. Yet you never mention any of that in your blog. I can only conclude then this is more a heart issue for you than a head. You bit mention at one time you angry with god and now you aren't . I think you still are it s just that you've been away so long from that thing that you can be adverse to it at a distance. I think if you encountered the similar set of events now you would feel angry and that anger would be intensiveied by your own personal pastDannoreply@blogger.com
