Let me clarify one thing before I reply to your comment in full. I would like you to know that the perception of me being "angry" is an incorrect assumption. I admit that in 1994 when I first renounced my beliefs in God I was a very angry and bitter atheist. But after all these years I have overcome that barrier and have often tried to engage theists in rational discussion.

I find that oncology and existentialism are all related as they are utilized by Christian believers in defence of their faith in the form of apologetics. I find apologetics frustrating because I don't consider it real philosophy but rather pseudophilosophy since it actually abuses and misrepresents actual logic and reasoning as it is taught in secular institutions of higher learning. I think that by doing so theists are being deceptive and dishonest and quite frankly knowingly or unknowingly ignore the contradictory facts against their faith (cognitive dissonance/confirmation bias).

In the Pentateuch for example God was believed to be in the heavens and this is made evident by various mythical tales that put him there. He was close to man and is said to have walked and talked with Abraham in the form of a man. When science was able to reach the heavens with air travel etc. then the realm of God was either invisible or he was pushed out to outer space. When we finally were able to reach the moon and explore some regions of space God was pushed out of time and space altogether.

It is because of scientific discoveries that the church has had to change its theology over and over again and will continue to do so. But instead of accepting the facts theists prefer to continue to believe despite the facts and insist that they are right and have the absolute truth.

Thanks for the book recommendations but I will be honest I wont be reading them. I find their so called philosophical assessments like their scientific analyses as they compare to their faith to be nothing more than dishonest circular reasoning and not worth my time. I have read enough books on this subject and as I stated before I don't consider Christian apologetics to be philosophy or true logical reasoning. I will ...Hi, this is my first comment on your blog. I will just be making a general comment, not related this post, but to your blog.

In your description, you stated your interest in philosophy. My interest as well, but not just in existentialism, but in ontology, and how both relate to monotheism.

I can understand your anger. The Bible is an existentialist account of humanity, but far less an ontological account. We need both to understand it, and to be objective. But since few speak of ontology as a theology, there is much confusion. For example, the difference between redemption and salvation can be easily seen when one sees the deeper perspective on ontology.

Let me ask if what I say here might be interesting: God does not exist in time and space (the here and now). Therefore, when atheists say, "God does not exist", they are preaching the truth. A Christian, will understand, however, that God last walked the Earth in the guise of Jesus. Maybe an atheist will believe that, maybe not, but at least it's clarified.

There is much more, but basically, ontology theism shows that there was a first creation, not in or of time and spacce. In fact, humans caused time and space, through their transgression of saying Maybe to God's Be, even though we were created perfectly with perfect freedom, and no temptation to say No. we didn't have to be on Earth. But through our Maybe, we caused ourselves into existence.

Much, much more, of course. If this small glimpse of a new perspective shines any light for you, I invite you to order the trilogy of books, "God Said Be, We Said Maybe" by Robert Joyce, at www.lifemeaning.com In the meantime, I can certainly understand your current No to God, empathize with you completely, and encourage you to look into new depths of meaning, as a philosopher.
Michael Gradyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04624013898736642182noreply@blogger.com
